This year, I've got to get organized!

Does too much stuff and too little time have you feeling ineffective and overwhelmed? The new year offers a perfect opportunity to tame the confusion and make a fresh, orderly start. If clutter is your nemesis, try these expert tips shared by Gabriella Boston in her Washington Times article "Organize Away All the Clutter": start the organization process by assessing your things and your space to identify your real needs, compartmentalize stored items so you can find them easily, and use storage systems which are portable and flexible.

Finances in chaos? In the USA TODAY article "Get Organized Via Spring Cleaning," Mike Sullivan of Take Charge America says you can get them in order by "ditching the shoebox method" in favor of files or stackable drawers and systematically paying bills on a set day each month. Writing for Monster.com, Wendy Paris' home office organization tips also make good sense for organizing study spaces. Paris recommends setting aside sufficient time to figure out your priorities, organizing "for retrieval, not storage," customizing your system to fit the way you think, and focusing on completing one section at a time. Time slipping through your fingers? In the Black Enterprise article "Time's A-Wastin!", Hasani Pettiford says you can get more done with less effort and stress using time management tips from Melvin Adams, motivational speaker and former Harlem Globetrotter. Adams recommends prioritizing your work, keeping a time log, taking breaks (to help you relax and refocus), and staying committed to your priorities.
